Pastoral Prayer December 6, 2020
Father as we lift up this prayer to you I recall the words of the prophet Isaiah declaring your greatness:
“Lift up your eyes on high,
And see who has created these things,
Who brings out their host by number;
He calls them all by name,
By the greatness of His might
And the strength of His power;
Not one is missing.”- Isaiah 40:26
Father we contemplate these words and the work of your mighty hands, the stars and the planets you breathed into existence, Your delight in making them and yet in all their splendour You are mindful of man. You have set us a little lower than Elohim, You have spared us Your righteous anger and poured out Your never ending cup of grace upon us so that we may dwell in the house of the Lord forever. We are undeserving of such favour which was bought by the precious blood of Jesus yet, through Him we may have the peace that surpasses all understanding. No longer an enemy of You but called a child of God.
Father the words ‘thank you’ just doesn’t begin to express our gratitude towards You, so we offer to You the only thing we can, ourselves as holy, living sacrifices as our reasonable act of worship to a magnificent God.
We come to you now Father to offer supplication. Each of Your saints here today have certain needs, some of which are unspoken only known by You. We ask Father for those needs to be met, for healing to be done and for the continual work of sanctification in each of our lives.
Father we pray specifically for the lost of this world, many of which are close family and friends. Specifically we ask that our online Christmas outreach will attract the lost to engage with this local church and learn of their need for a saving relationship with You. We petition you for these souls’ knowing:
…“the Lord’s hand is not shortened,
That it cannot save;
Nor His ear heavy,
That it cannot hear.”- Isaiah 59:1
We love you Father, we delight in being able to meet together this morning to collectively offer You the praise You so deserve. Amen.
